About Us

emmy·in·the·mix is a blog whose aim is to bring a new perspective.
Its mission is to build bridges between the worlds of Europe and South West Asia (Middle East) – with a focus on art, culture, and language.

Emmy, the founder, is a European communications professional who fell in love with SWA when she started learning Arabic a few years ago. Opening her eyes to the extremely rich culture of the region, she decided to start this blog in late 2020, after writing and publishing articles on various platforms.

emmy·in·the·mix wants to show that nothing is black or white; everything is a mix. While society often suppresses it, diversity – of gender, race, age,  language, and religion –  should be considered both a strength and an asset.

In a global context of increasing fear of the other, distrust, and misunderstanding, this blog aims to bring people closer together.
